M.A. in Counseling


Welcome! The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Counseling offers the opportunity for advanced study and professional development in the fields of Community and School Counseling. Students may earn credit toward a state-level counseling license to practice in community settings (Licensed Professional Counselor). Credit may also be earned toward a School Counselor endorsement on a Teacher’s Certificate. A thesis option emphasizes the development of research competencies critical to continued graduate-level study.

M.A. in Adult and Higher Education - Fall 2006 UPDATE

The university is no longer accepting applications for admission to the M.A. in Adult and Higher Education program. Only those students who were previously admitted to the M.A. in Adult and Higher Education program will have the option to complete this degree. The administration of the four specializations within the M.A. in AHE have been divided between three departments: Counseling and Educational Psychology (CEPAHE); Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS); and, Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ILT). Those students who remain under the AHE program please refer to the chart below for contact information. Your first line of contact for any degree related information is the Student Development Specialist (SDS) in your department. Your faculty advisor is there to review your goals and help make decisions about your program of study.
